26 August - 2 September, London
With the city lights in sight, you pitch your tent alongside thousands of others. Another future emerges from the ground. Welcome to the Climate Camp.
Last year thousands of people camped at Kingsnorth coal fired power station, casting a big question mark over new coal in the UK. Then in the spring of this year thousands of people swooped on the city whilst the G20 was meeting in London: tents were pitched and the carbon trading centre in the hub of the financial district shut its doors for the day.
This summer there are camps in Scotland from 3-10 August and in Wales from 13-16 August, before the Camp for Climate Action returns to London. There'll be the usual mix of sustainable living, movement-building, education and direct action, plus we'll be preparing for an autumn of mass action in the run up to the United Nations climate talks in Copenhagen this December.
While our banks and politicians fail us, Climate Camp will be creating a vision of real democracy. Because the future is not what it used to be.
Summer Swoop
On Wednesday 26 August there will be a mass public swoop on the secret location of the Camp, which will be announced by text message. We need hundreds of people to set and up and defend the site!
